Who are you becoming?

Who are you becoming?

Confidence Is Built, Not Born

Confidence grows through action. Everyone thinks that confidence is something that you are born with well that is not the case. Confidence is something that can be taught through repetition conversations seeds planted from our parents/gaurdian's. Maybe you have heard this phrase: A close mouth won't get feed, or maybe Stand up for yourself.  Well that could look like many different things over one's life span.  As a child I was timid, as an adolescent I was an observer until graduation. My first responsibilty was landing a job since higher education hadn't worked out so good in the begining. Then I became a parent that had to speak up for her children which was another training for building one's confidence and overtime through life and work experiences I decided to speak up and take action when necessary. Then I decided that those words spoken so long ago in high school early adulthood, " I want to start a business!" It took years for those words to manifest into my life. It came back to me when I had accomplished many of the dreams that I had set out for myself. Life was not always perfect and I made many mistakes but I discovered that raising your standards and standing up and taking responsibility over your life lead me right here where I am right now. I asked myself if you can work hard for someone else why not work hard for yourself. With every step my confidence grew more and more. Yet I am humble for the journey most times I am pretty quite unless I am really comfortable but comfort is not the place to be all the time. Putting myself into place around people that are doing things that I want to do changed the game completely.

How parenting, education, work, and life experiences developed your confidence. Being a young mother, going for higher learning , working jobs just to justify the means, and life experiences also contributed to building my confidence because when you are responsible for the care of two human beings that didn't ask to come here why not give them the best life that you can.  The decision to do that required some serious time management that meant only working jobs that fit around my children's schedule, balance getting an education while working and being home at the end of school time is truly navigating but it would not have happened had I not spoken up to the job and let them know the importance of working for them and being home during hours that my children needed me simply conversation that worked for the most part. Employers want you to work and most times will try to  work with you but when they can't guess what time to make another decision but the children will be cared for either way my non negotiable but over time the children grew older and so did I and the question then became " What will I do now?"  Will I go back to school or am I going to explore this starting a business and what type of business will it be? Getting the confidence to sit in on overviews, free webinars, to be part of open group discussions with people from around the world with a desire to do exactly what you want to do, "Start a business".  To be honest like many others I was very quite in the beginning, listening and as I listen I discovered that I was not alone in the fears that I was experiencing. So began to do the exercises from each training little by little my confidence began to grow.

Why fear and confidence often grow side by side.  I believe that fear and confidence often grow side by side and here is why, have you ever heard the tail of the Devil and the Angel sitting on your shoulders one's encouraging you to go for the good attributes of life and the other encouraging you to feed the fear of all that could go wrong with the attributes of life. See to me confidence is that sense of urgency to reach for what excites and or has an adventure attached to it filled with possibilities on the other hand fear is what is critizing the change that is often times needed in order for us to grow.  Imagine never having a dream or sense that you have an entire world to live in yet you choose to stay in one little section never to venture out. Well confidence begins the moment you tell fear, "Not today we have things to do and yes all of it will be new" and with every step you uncover confidence you may have felt but never expressed it but because now you are taking steps feeling all the discomfort that many times comes with it but look at you facing each day building another day of confidence in building you and the life you feel the urgency to create no longer allowing what you don't know or the tools you don't have to hold you back. You stepping figuring it all out one step at a time and overtime you discover that there is so much more to life your life the want you found the strength and courage to start creating while you live, that's just amazing no matter how many times it happens each day it still an amazing process.

Encouraging readers to take their next step even if they don't feel ready.  If I had a dollar for every time that I had to take the next step I'd be a billionaire and I would not have a high school diploma, drivers license, college degree, ect... Listen I found that no one is truly ready or feel ready and or equip for this life living assignment but we know that in order for something to change that change is going to start with the person that has the sense that change is on the horizon. I learned that although I was not ready for the responsibility of my life I found I took it because the thought of living a life that someone else designed for me didn't fit the life that I envision for myself so I learn as I go and with each step I build another tier of confidence and you will too. You just have to say Yes to you first and take that first step for you and the other steps wont be as difficult as when you first began.

Confidence Grows Through Action

Many people believe confidence is a personality trait.

I don't.

I believe confidence is developed.

Sometimes it begins with the simple words spoken by our parents, grandparents, teachers, or someone who believed in us before we believed in ourselves.

Perhaps you've heard phrases like:

"A closed mouth doesn't get fed."

"Stand up for yourself."

Those words seem simple, but over time they become seeds.

Looking back, I can see how those seeds slowly grew throughout my own life.

As a child, I was timid.

As an adolescent, I spent more time observing than speaking.

After graduating from high school, life introduced me to my first major responsibility—finding work and beginning adulthood.

Then I became a mother.

Suddenly, speaking up wasn't just about me anymore.

It was about advocating for my children.

That season became another classroom where confidence was quietly being built.

Years later, I remembered something I had said when I was much younger:

"One day, I want to start a business."

At the time, those words felt like a dream.

Today, they remind me that dreams often begin long before we're prepared to pursue them.

Every experience...

Every responsibility...

Every challenge...

Quietly helped shape the confidence I needed for the next season.

Life Became My Greatest Teacher

Parenthood.

Education.

Work.

Life itself.

Each became part of my training.

As a young mother, my priorities were clear.

Provide.

Protect.

Prepare.

I wanted to give my children the best life I could.

That required difficult decisions.

I chose jobs that allowed me to be present when my children needed me.

I balanced work with school.

I learned to communicate with employers about what mattered most.

Sometimes those conversations worked.

Sometimes they didn't.

When they didn't, I learned something else.

Sometimes growth requires another decision.

As my children grew older, another question began to surface.

"What will I do now?"

Would I continue down the path I already knew?

Or would I finally explore the dream of building a business?

That decision introduced me to an entirely new world.

Free webinars.

Business overviews.

Training sessions.

Conversations with people from around the world who were building something they believed in.

To be honest, I was very quiet in the beginning.

I listened.

I observed.

I wondered if I belonged in those rooms.

Then I realized something important.

I wasn't the only person who felt uncertain.

Everyone had once been a beginner.

So I kept showing up.

I completed the exercises.

I asked questions.

I practiced what I was learning.

Little by little...

My confidence began to grow.

Fear and Confidence Often Grow Together

People often think fear disappears before confidence arrives.

My experience has been different.

I think fear and confidence grow side by side.

Fear whispers,

"What if you fail?"

Confidence quietly replies,

"What if you grow?"

Fear focuses on everything that could go wrong.

Confidence focuses on what could become possible.

For me, confidence became the willingness to keep moving even when I didn't have every answer.

Every uncomfortable conversation.

Every presentation.

Every workshop.

Every new experience.

Each one became another opportunity to grow.

I've learned that courage isn't the absence of fear.

It's deciding that purpose is greater than fear.

Every step forward uncovers confidence that was already waiting to be developed.

You Don't Have to Feel Ready

If someone paid me for every time I had to take the next step before I felt ready, I'd probably be a billionaire.

The truth is, very few people ever feel completely prepared.

I certainly didn't.

I wasn't fully prepared for adulthood.

I wasn't fully prepared for parenthood.

I wasn't fully prepared to start a business.

But I was willing to learn.

Looking back, I realize that I wasn't waiting for confidence.

Confidence was waiting for me to move.

Every step built another layer.

Every lesson strengthened another foundation.

Every challenge revealed another part of who I was becoming.

You don't have to know everything before you begin.

You simply have to say yes to the next step.

Maybe you've been waiting for the perfect moment.

The perfect plan.

The perfect opportunity.

Or the perfect version of yourself.

Perhaps today is your reminder that perfection isn't the requirement.

Progress is.

What if confidence isn't something you find?

What if it's something you build?

One conversation.

One lesson.

One decision.

One courageous step at a time.

Who are you becoming?

And what small step could you take today that your future self will thank you for?

With gratitude,
